Never-ending Stories
Stained glass windows capture the energy of the coloured image. Here, the swirls of the pen around the two turtle doves (full of vibrant radiant love) simulate this technique in glass: for I was filled with joy at the recent birth of our first grandson.
Inspired by Madhubani Folk Art, with traditional borders, colours, designs and auspicious spiritual symbols, are the Moon (melded into Ek Onkar), flowers, pathways and vessels. And a lone traveller - until his home was made complete with woman and child. In a pink wood, entwined gold and carmine figures (safely embraced by butterfly wings and nature) are enhanced by light - and surrounded by these words: “Then know that all things unfold in the most perfect way…….let go of the need to know why.” Illustrating all W Country smuggling poems and stories; but central is my GGG Grandmother, Hannah Osment, 6 mths in Sutton Poyntz Prison, Osmington Mills for smuggling in 1840’s. In her arms is her baby, the connection with me, her GGG Grand-daughter…. Many “witches” were ordinary women: healers and ‘wise women.' Her daily Meditation would protect her; but I added the Universal Mother to encircle her and my grandson - whilst the Lotus blooms and Sun and Moon shine Eternal Light. The immortal Famous Five step into our world; and “Swallows and Amazons” flows into the world of children. Through a retrospective lens in the blazing colours of childhood summers, a real landscape becomes the background to a playful mosaic of childhood. Symbols of diplomacy and observation, foxes are woven into our dreams, culture and literary history; Spirit Guides for decision and change, their wisdom directs you to find your true Self. So if a fox crosses your Path, trust your intuition - and act. Flicks of the brush create feathers, fabric and flowers: the woman is a mystery. However, in contrast with her eyes which, masked, gaze into the distance, the vibrant yellows, oranges and reds denote the twinkling fun that lies behind the disguise.…!
